With the approaching perfect alignment of bank holidays, you only need to use nine days of holiday to get yourself an amazing 17 days off from work this spring. KAYAK.ie has checked out the data to reveal the most popular as well as the top trending destinations for Irish holidaymakers over Easter, plus how much you should expect to pay to get to them.
But firstly, and most importantly, how do you get those 17 days? The golden period begins on Good Friday (April 14), taking in Easter Monday on April 17 and finishes with the May Day bank holiday on May 1. With the extra weekends added in, you’ve got plenty of time for an unforgettable trip – but you had better get your plans in order quickly.
And where should you go? Well, these are the prices for the most popular destinations this spring:
Find flights: Dublin to London
Find flights: Dublin to New York
Looking over these prices, the good news is that tickets over the holiday period to top European destinations such as London, Paris, Amsterdam and Manchester are all available for under €150, so it’s possible to make last minute plans without breaking the bank.
For those looking for something a little further afield, there are a few surprises as well. For example, with flights to Los Angeles the least expensive of the long-haul destinations, now may not be a bad time for a visit to Hollywood.
What about trending destinations? A look at the five destinations showing the largest increase in search volume compared with the same period last year reveals a clear preference by Irish holidaymakers this year for sunny, beach destinations, with Faro, in Portugal the big winner, followed by Malaga, Spain. The trendiest destinations also all show average ticket prices under €200, indicating that the Irish don’t want to fly too far or overspend over the upcoming bank holiday break period.
It’s pretty rare to have such a lucky string of holidays – in fact, we’ve looked ahead and found it won’t occur again until 2019. So don’t rest on your laurels! Take your chance now!
