The Conrad Algarve hotel is a beautiful property that is maintained very well. The pools are incredible and the outdoor bar staff are super pleasant. Upon entering the hotel, the door men were attentive, warm and friendly. And the checkin process was very welcoming: I was kindly and professionally assisted by Marco, who was extremely thorough. I would say that it was a bit odd that the adjacent buildings were run-down “Residencas” buildings that appeared unfinished, unkempt, and unmanaged. Fallen panel lights, old green painted interior, and debris could be seen from the windows. This set a different appeal and experience. As for our room, it was a tad “cold” in the sense that the furniture and decor did not provide the same wow factor as the property. Though the room was very large with many good amenities, it didn’t seem to bring value based on the price of the stay. I was also disappointed in learning that no late checkouts were available. As a Hilton Honors Gold member, this is an expectation that should be accommodated—even IF it is by 30-45 minutes. And to top that off, I received an email to inform me that my request for a later checkout was denied. This should have been communicated to me either by phone or as an in-person update. The food was good. I would say very good; however, I was disappointed with Well, their sushi bar and restaurant. After waiting for 10-15 minutes, my fiancé had to find a staff member to place an order. It was later that we learned only ONE person was working at that time. Our hostess/server did the best she could under such difficulty, so I can understand that. However, these types of issues should be communicated with the front desk before suggesting guests to that restaurant/service. Also, the food was very overpriced for the quality. I ordered the otoro sashimi and was grossed out by the quality. It was VERY fishy and tough! Otoro should melt in your mouth, but this was chewy. The gyoza was very cold on the inside. On the flip side, the ebi fry house rolls were delicious! In summary, there may be some behind-the-scenes training and/or communication issues at this property—especially in the dining areas. It seemed like my waitress at Loure was mostly confused with any request, so the manager(?) made the extra effort to come behind her. The manager was a bit chatty with me, but kind nonetheless. Food wise, my favorite thing about the Conrad Algarve was their continental breakfast and à la cart options. The quality and cleanliness of the food/presentation was exquisite!!

Pros:The staff cannot do enough for you and a small tip for exceptional service is very much appreciated. The gym is well equipped. The pools are great but don't expect the best sun loungers unless you get there early. Not a big loss - we had a cabana which was amazing.
Cons:I speak Portuguese, so expected that if staff did not speak English, they'd speak Portuguese. There are quite a few staff members who don't speak either so you have to revert to sign language.
