The guy talked me out of the deal I had set up with Priceline. I got charged double the price for a car that was smaller than I originally rented. I got charged €400 for losing a license plate that cost normal people €40 to replace. Bottom line I will never do business with Hertz again!!!

The car itself was fine. Staff were terrible.

Cons:

1. DO NOT BUY the Kayak insurance. When we arrived we assured them that we had comprehensive insurance. But they refused to accept it without putting a 10K hold on our card. Who is going to accept it. Another 236 euros on our way, we got the car etc. We returned early due to COVID. We asked the person if she could prorate our money - or at least the insurance she had made us buy. She flat out refused saying it was part of the contact. Luckily it looked like Hertz the company did the right thing and refunded our credit card, but the people at Hertz in Malta airport have a seriously bad attitude which is too bad because the rest of the Maltese people were delightful.

Hidden costs everywhere! Firstly, I paid ca. 54€ for the car, bit it was not the car, only the “reservation”. The fee itself needs to be paid on site (more than 80 €), during the collection in Malta. Then there is the “Airport usage” fee (25€), “holiday” fee (25€) for the date when I need to give the car back (I brought the car 1 day earlier in order to avoid it!), than the deposit (1300€ without the insurance and “only” 400€ with the insurance). Why it cannot be written clearly in few lines, but is always hidden somewhere on 45 pages of text or is not written at all? What was originally 54€, ended over 300€ with the insurance + 400€ deposit (which hopefully comes back, but I am not sure anymore!). The car itself was OK - a bit dirty and the windshield wipers were not working (they needed to be changed probably 3 years ago, cannot wipe s**t), and it was rainy for 2 days, so I could not drive..

Worst service I ever had in my life unfortunately there is no option to rat 0 stars or even minus. The price in the site was not accurate, and they added extra prices for some location fees and out of hours fees that was not mentioned when I made the reservation, and that's not the worst. They have me a car that didn't work well when I tried to start it in the parking. when I somehow managed to start the car I thought everything was ok, but after one drive, the day later the car just didn't start. They asked me paying 100 Euros for road assistance after they gave me a car that doesn't start after one drive. Don't ever rent for them a car. I had to drive only by cabs and they don't even accept to refund me. Worst service in the world for sure. Probably going to sue them for this unfortunate case.

Incorrect details on voucher of location and telephone numbers that did not work. Needed to alter time of flight arrival, could not alter online it said to call company directly. The telephone numbers provided did not work. Upon arrival, the office was not located where it says on the voucher, had to ask tourist information. After eventually finding it, the car was no longer available so had no hire car. Seems to be brokers fault taking bookings with out of date information
