Top tips for finding cheap flights to Ireland

  • Morning departure is around 11% cheaper than an evening flight, on average*.
  • When flying from London to Ireland, you will be lucky enough to be able to use any of the London-serving airports for the trip. Heathrow (LHR) and London City Airport (LCY) are the two airports that are closer to London central and are good choices if you are based centrally. Gatwick (LGW), Luton (LTN) and Stansted (STN) are all slightly further afield, so take into account your ground-travel time when planning your itinerary.
  • If you would like to take some great British treats to your Irish friends, all London-serving airports offer great duty-free shopping options. Heathrow and Gatwick have convenient click-and-collect services, which can reduce time. Simply browse online and collect at the designated point of the airport for a seamless transaction.
  • Although your flight to Ireland from London will be rather short, if you have a baby, you may want to ensure they sleep comfortably through it. If you fly with British Airways, you can get a bassinet for your little one, to get them down before the plane takes off. All London airports will also let you board first if your baby is under two years of age.
  • If you are planning on visiting Dublin, ensure your flight arrives at Dublin Airport (DUB), on the western coast of the country. You can also catch flights to the central region of Limerick and land at Shannon Airport (SNN) or the southern region of Cork and land at Cork Airport (ORK). Although Ireland is essentially small, direct city-to-city flights are always good if you don’t have the time for ground transportation.
  • If you are planning on taking your service animal on the plane, be aware that, although this is welcomed, you will have to follow the procedure of alerting the airline at least 48 hours before the flight, making sure the animal’s paperwork is up to date and they have all their latest inoculations.

Friendly crew who apologised and explained reason for delay. Good on board service. Rather cramped seating. Late departure.

Very sad, couldn't stop crying. Was an hour delay in Ireland and when we got to Canada the flight was boarded and couldn't get on. Was the last flight of the day. Now in a hotel waiting on a stand by.I have to got o work, so I'll go first available while my son stays in the hotel til one's available

Both flights late. Almost missed connecting flight and flight staff not willing to help expedite us off the plane.

Probably my favorite airline and way to go to Europe. Everything went smoothly! Food was tasty, crew was pleasant. Really cannot complain!

Golf Bags never made it on the flight. Very expensive golf bag and. Clubs, shoes, clothing. Will file a claim against Aer Lingus

Horrible. Garbage airline. Due to the strike we got a replacement plane/crew. I didn't get my exit row seat I paid for. Food was horrible. Plane was hot and didn't have AC vents.

The first leg of my 2 flights were delayed, causing me to miss my second flight and have to stay the whole night in Dublin. Super upset with this experience, and I still need to figure out how to get compensated for this.

Everything went well, but could have used a bit more legroom.

The flight got us safely from point a to point b and on time. For a transatlantic flight that isnt nothing. Flight crew was kind and professional. The seats are super uncomfortable (worse than domestic budget airlines) and the cabin was DIRTY.

Long unexplained delay, uncomfortable back row, long waits for trash collection.

The seats of the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner were ridiculously uncomfortable. I was on 10 flights during this vacation and this plane was super uncomfortable both times I was on one whereas all of the others were perfectly fine. Additionally, these planes do not have any air vents that passengers can control, the climate is entirely controlled by the crew which made for an extremely uncomfortable temperature for the duration. The flight attendants tried to make everyone happy with the temperature but several people you could tell were excessively warm and just wanted a bit of airflow.

Everything was fine except not posting the gate number until 14 minutes before boarding. In an airport the size of Heathrow, that was unacceptable.

We already had a five hour layover in London, and then they cancelled our flight about half hour before we were due to board. They wouldn't give us access to the lounge and hanging around the extremely busy terminal for another three hours until our next flight was crappy. 8 hours in a busy terminal is awful. The least they could have done was give us access to one of their quiet, comfortable lounges for the inconvenience. I heard from others that they do this a lot -- cancel these short flights if they're not completely full. When we got onto the next flight it was absolutely packed and uncomfortable. Just very disappointing. British Airways used to be a great airline to fly with, but it doesn't feel that way at all now.

Don't fly thru London Awful and huge U need 4 hrs to transfer cuz u have to tale buses to and fro from airplanes Bad business

Staff with low service level, forgetful. Temperature at 15 C and after asking twice to raise the temperature the crew did nothing.

They took good care of me on the plane and had it not been for handicap assistance I would definitely had missed my connecting flight . Not BA fault but The airport security instead . Two hours is way too long for security

The least comfortable business class seat I have encountered for a while - very very firm when reclined making sleeping difficult. Cost cutting is visible everywhere - no offer to refill drinks (the wines were not good - so no real issue there :) ) Just not worth what BA charge

old seat need to go! outdated and uncomfortable. I waited 40 minutes for my bag

They had about 20-25 people overbooked. Including me. Why is this?? I was put on a flight to NC an hour later with a 4 hour layover. I was supposed to be home at 1045am instead i was home at 7:30pm. An extra day to pay for dog care.

Boarding is not controlled as groups called was not enforced
