Based in Papeete, Air Tahiti Nui serves as a major link between French Polynesia and the rest of the world. Due to its isolated location in the South Pacific Ocean, all flights operated are long-haul routes to major destinations. Connections are possible to North America, Asia, Europe, and Oceania.
Predominantly owned by the Government of French Polynesia, Air Tahiti Nui is responsible for a large sector of the islands’ tourism. Direct services to densely populated locations in the United States, Japan, and France have boosted the accessibility and economy of the Polynesia region. Codeshare agreements are held with several carriers, including Air France, Air New Zealand, Japan Airlines, Qantas, Korean Air, and American Airlines. These partnerships provide customers the ability to purchase connected flights to a wider network.
Exclusively Boeing aircraft are flown. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is favored for its fuel efficiency and long-distance range. The jets can carry approximately 294 passengers. All aircraft in the fleet are named after islands in French Polynesia, such as Bora Bora and Fakarava. The names can be spotted alongside the cockpit window along with the French Polynesian flag. Emblazoned on the tail of the aircraft is the Tahitian gardenia flower.
There are three cabin classes to choose from when flying with Air Tahiti Nui: Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class. Seats in Economy have 31 in of legroom, which is increased to 36 in for Premium Economy. Seats can also be semi-reclined in Premium Economy. The Business Class cabin is decorated in a tropical color scheme and has flatbeds with a large, soft cushion.
