Based in Kathmandu, Himalaya Airlines has an international focus with services offered to Bangladesh, Qatar, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Seasonal flights are also scheduled to China. This helps link travelers between Western and South Asia.
The airline was founded through a partnership with Tibet Airlines and Yeti World Investment, which is an affiliate of Yeti Airlines. A controlling stake of 51% is owned by Yeti Airlines. Commencing operations in 2016, Himalaya Airlines was crowned the Leading New International Airline by the South Asian Travel Awards.
Passengers can choose between Economy and Premium Economy Class. Located within the same cabin, the sections are separated by a privacy blind. Personal TVs are not provided in either class, with 10 overhead screens shared between 150 seats in Economy and 2 screens shared between 8 seats in Premium Economy. An additional space of 13 in is provided between seats in the upgraded section, plus an extra 4 in of recline. The seats in Premium Economy also have personal USB charging ports. All passengers receive up to 30 kg (approximately 66 lb) of free checked baggage, with Premium passengers allowed an additional 10 kg (approximately 22 lb).
An entirely Airbus fleet of aircraft are used by Himalaya Airlines. An Airbus A320 was the first aircraft to be flown by the airline, and they continue to be the preferred model chosen for services. A white and blue color scheme is used for the fleets livery, with stripped patterns that signify Nepal’s mountains featured on the tail.
